Aloha,
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, residing on the island of Kauai where I provide direct services to the adults, children and families of the island. I am currently launching a research foundation called the Dolphin Odyssey Foundation. As executive director, I will oversee the clinical and applied research dealing with the therapeutic effects observed in humans interacting with dolphins and whales in the wild. As the foundation grows, I envision a range of innovative therapies designed to help individuals who are psychoneurologically and neurophysiologically challenged.
I received my Bachelors in Psychology from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California–completing my studies at the London Campus. My Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychologyare from United States International University in San Diego, California. A solid foundation in Clinical Psychology is complemented by post-doctoral specialization in Transpersonal Psychology , Holistic Healing and Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI). I continue to enjoy global travel and opportunities to work with indigenous people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. The realm of spiritual emergence, self-realization, and self-actualization have been life long areas of interest and personal / professional quest.
MULTIDIMENSIONAL PERSPECTIVE
The human spirit is like a many faceted diamond, yet most psychological and spiritual systems polish only one or two facets to this precious jewel. Drawing on over two decades of experience in mental health assessment, psychological evaluation and treatment, I have developed an eclectic and multidimensional approach that embraces both modern depth psychology of the west and ancient spiritual traditions of the east in an attempt to address every aspect of the human soul’s development– every facet of the diamond.
I perceive spiritual awakening as part of a developmental continuum that begins at birth, includes the various stages of ego formation and deformation, and can continue beyond ego to the highest states of mystical consciousness. I consider the psychological and the spiritual to be so interlinked as to be really indistinguishable. My teachings blend esoteric spiritual terminology with the technical language of clinical psychology and quantum physics. The integration of spirituality with the practice of psychology can deepen the exploration of higher states of conscious and optimal mental health through a psychological and phenomenological framework (rather than a religious framework).
The concept of nonduality recognizes that each part (e.g., each person) is fundamentally and ultimately a part of the whole (the cosmos). As obvious as this may sound, it has radical implications for psychological systems founded on the premises of mechanism, atomism, reductionism, and separateness. From this insight come two other realizations: the intrinsic health and basic goodness of the whole and each of its parts, and the validity of self-transcendence from the conditional and conditioned personality to a sense of identity which is deeper, broader, and more unified with the whole.
PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy is seeded in the timeless, universal, and enduring ‘absolute’. Quantum Physics confirms that (a) everything is composed of this absolute in different densities, and (b) everything interpenetrates everything else.
While we are born (Essence) from this unified quantum field (the absolute), human life soon renders us amnesic of this connection. The ensuing alienation breeds all human suffering, birthing a ‘pseudo-self’ to cope with the pain of isolation. Impartial observation of this pseudo self’s mechanical strategies (aimed at reconnection) gradually weakens our identification with it and Self-remembering of our Essence becomes possible.
This timeless quest for our Essence has been pursued by all authentic traditions and living teachings throughout the ages. The methods and styles have varied widely (accommodating the particular time, culture and people) yet remain inherently identical at the core. What was effective the the past–a secluded monastery, ashram, temple, etc–is now inadequate. Healing retreats on the island Kauai that are individually designed to provide a synchronistic adaptation for modern western man are now being offered.
Unaware of an ‘Essential Self’, modern psychological and spiritual approaches aspire to transform and empower the pseudo-self (personality), allowing us to sleep more safe and sound. The pursuit of personal healing and empowerment, self-mastery, peak performance…inevitably awaken us to the actual depth and breadth of the the ensuing ‘Essential work’.
I considers the ‘Essential work’ to encompass the disidentification with pseudo-self and the liberation / development of the Essential Self through understanding, presence and awareness. Essential Self (the innate, the true, the complete and unified being) is only realized by willful effort during the union of awareness and presence. Seeds from ancient Eastern traditions, modern depth psychologies and quantum physics are assimilated into my approach.

Human-Dolphin Interactive Studies: Research correlates of cellular cavitation and human brainwave activity to cognitive, affective and hormonal states of humans exposed to the electromagnetic transmissions of cetacean (dolphin and whale) sonar.
